Want to get started on DC++? Here is how..
The simple version:
1. Download a client to log into a DC hub. I recommend Strong DC++ but others can be found here.
2. Setup the client. Client Setup help here.
3. Active mode is preferred for the best performance. Active setup help here.
4. Connect to a hub. Many can be found using the built in public hublists. If you filter 420net.org you will see network affiliated hubs. I also suggest filtering THC or AWE for other great hubs. ALL HUBS HAVE THEIR OWN RULES! THIS EXAMPLE REQUIRES SPECIFIC THINGS TO BE DONE BEFORE CONNECTION. OTHER HUBS WILL BE DIFFERENT AND PROBABLY REQUIRE NO REGISTRATION TO GET IN.
For this example we will use Dope-Shit.420NET.org:4420 . After you attempt to connect to this hub you will notice you can't get in. This hub Forces all users to add a prefix to their name to show support for the hub. To make the name change for just this hub you will need to add it to your favorites. Type "/fav" in the main chat of the hub you just connected to, EVEN IF YOU ARE REFUSED CONNECTION. Now open your favirites (gold star at the top) and you will see this hub has been added. You will need to change your name in this hub by adding [421] before your nick name. After that is done then reconnect to the hub from your favorites list. If your name is entered properly then you will connect and see an annoying trivia that never shuts up (in this hub only). Now type "+reg" to see the registration rules and to let the operators know you want to be registered. The rest must be done by talking to an operator(key icon) in the hub. Sometimes this may take a few hours. Stay logged in until then or your request will be ignored! THERE IS NO AUTOMATIC REGISTRATION IN THIS HUB AND YOU MUST TALK TO A REAL PERSON TO GET REGISTERED!
