This is a simple table to show the comparison of "bits" vs "bytes". Most ISP advertise bandwidth in "kbps" (kilo bits per second) while most applications show bandwidth in "kb/s" (kilo bytes per second). So when you pay for 512 kbps you know why your downloads never go faster than about 60 kb/s now you know why.
